Lecture on "The Impact of the American Revolution on Local Citizens" by Eric Olsen. Sunday, February 2 at 2:00 PM at the Tunis-Ellicks House Museum.
New Jersey was at the center of fighting in the Revolutionary War, earning the moniker "Crossroads of the American Revolution." New York City was occupied by the British after the Battle of Brooklyn. Washington's troops were quartered in Jockey Hollow during the worst snowstorm in history. The local people in the Morristown area were forced to choose: Loyalist or Patriot?
National Park Ranger and Historian Eric Olsen tells the stories of how the Revolution affected the local population. He tells the stories of real people and how they survived the war.
Olsen has worked for the National Park Service for over 45 years at the Morristown National Historical Park, Ellis Island, Federal Hall in New York City, and Thomas Edison National Historical Park.
